The Singing Butler by Jack Vettriano
Dance in the darkness, dance with the wind, dance with the flying catkins, dance with singing waves on the beach.
Dance with closed eyes, because in that way, the feeling flows stronger and clearer, maybe only then the eyes of our hearts open and we become more sensitive and expressive. Just like when we did blind contour drawing, we captured the facts better.
This is the most romantic painting I have ever seen. None of the figures show a clear face. Right, can you see the clear face of happiness? yet it’s already and always in your heart, it’s a journey of discovering life.
So dance with the girl in red dress, no matter whoever she is and whatever it takes.

Expats in Hong Kong
Wondering the number of "gweilos" we see on in Hong Kong? .
As the former British colony of its return to Chinese rule since years, figures show the number of western expatriates has fallen every year.
Most of the analysts say that the fall in the western population is caused by increasing localization of jobs as well as its expensive international schools and worsening air pollution for them to set up their family...True??
Perhaps we still see many of them, even so many of them in the streets or at Lan Kwai Fong, Wanchai or Tsim Sha Tsui. But probably they are only in Hong Kong as tourists, or having a contract job and are only trying to live the Hong Kong life. Realizing that the pollution is not getting any better and more jobs are getting localized, there's more than just money Hong Kong can offer...True is not....*Sigh.
Anyhow, by nature of human beings, they like to create categories. Classifying helps us determine where we fit, helps us to remember, and defines the world around the community. A lot of people would classify the expats they have seen or met.
The Exploiter
This is always a male. They come here to take advantage of the cheap labor, and attractive women who want a better life with those old expats. Most of the times, you'll see them in bars, high-end shopping malls or resorts and villa. They always have a woman much younger and far more attractive than themselves.
From my experience, they are typically Australian or British. They could care less about learning the language or customs as well as the real life of Hong Kong. Everyone here should bow at their feet. Many have wives or lovers back in their home country, and a local "wife" or a local "girlfriend" here.
The Lifestyle Seekers
These are mostly men and a few women who have come to live lavishly in a low cost environment. They are usually older or more mature in their middle age. Many have a local spouse who is far better than they could attain had they remained in their country of origin and very likely married for looks or pretty facade body. Others definitely married someone like they would have at home - someone who makes them happy. Most have decided that this is where they want to be for an extended period of time. Most of them learn the language - thanks to their spouse (what British colonialists would have called a "sleeping dictionary") - have learned the customs and live like a local.
The Passing Through
This group is either young professional on their first internship or someone who, with their family, are veteran expats on another expat contract. There are a lot more women in this group, though still dominated by men.
The Passing Through group is here on a temporary contract with no intentions of putting down roots and staying for a long time (though, some Lifestyle Seekers did start this way).Embassy workers, product/brand managers, and financial professionals most commonly fall in this category. Most I've met are on their 3rd or 4th contract and already know where they are going after this one.
Well, This is indeed the typical expat symptom in Hong Kong and Asia still.
Agree??

Rain
I can hear the almost silent tap of rain..
Droplets of water come in contact with skin.
And the rain is the fine line between the past and the future.
Sopping wet hair hides all my glorious shame.
Sitting here with agony on one side and anguish on the other.
Though I dare not reveal my hidden feelings.
Solitude weighs down my heart as the rain continues.
Puddles of water conjure my memories.
And they reflect my lonely self.
But despite all the melancholy thoughts.
Despite the bittersweet tears of the clouds that fall endlessly.
I must admit I love walking in the rain.
Because no one will know I'm crying.

The One
Just a bit of thought in last few days, I was thinking about the concept of ‘The One’ . Look at those people around us, they fall for another person in the midst of the euphoriam, they often believe they have found ‘The One’. What if ‘the One’ dies or leaves them? Or worse the boringness of ‘The One’ starts? Is that person still ‘The One’ or have they got ‘The wrong One’?
If it is the former, they can carry on believing that that person was indeed ‘The One’, Anyone who is not ‘The One’ is seen as necessarily a poor substitute.
Else, they decide that this person was not The One they’d been waiting for, and they are yet to meet him or her. this also applies of course if they themselves go off ‘The One’ and end the relationship.
Always, the concept of ‘The One’ which is the root cause of the problems most of the times. It usually comes from a fundamental belief in lack of faith in life to provide abundant opportunities. Of course the particular person we are with is great and may tick all our boxes and we may be happy to spend the rest of our days with them, but that is not to say that someone else could not be equally good for us.
So do I believe in ‘The One’?
Of course the answer has to be ‘Yes and No’.........

The Game
I never like to read books on relationship but this book really caught my eyes.
For me, this kind of book is bullshit, the authors just write, What should or should not do. People are talking about this book since months and I don't want to be left-out. Therefore I start to read this and the other books that Neil written.
I thought some men are having their own inborn pick up talent. Until I read this book and I start to change my mind. Actually it can be learnt and trained up with time.
This talent is important to men, I believe. Most women always attracted to sweet-talking men even though they don’t have looks, a lot of those ladies out there still like the shallow sweet talk men.
Also, in my observation when I was in public, I notice a lot of shorter men are actually natural pickup artists while taller men are usually blur and facade.
Based on experience and observation! No offense to those so-called tall and handsome guys out in the community.
Some couples take things for granted. They don’t communicate with each other the way they should do. Communication breakdown is the most common reason for separation. Everything becomes a routine until they become bored with each other. They all assume their spouses to read their mind without talking. Some people shout and argue to each other, some people just keep quiet, some people just don’t bother and move on with their lives, some people write in their blog, some people talk to their friends or strangers, and some people start another affair…
Don't get me wrong, This is just one of the elements in our life

Work to Live or Live to Work
Have you been asking yourself with the question Live to work or work to live philosophy?
Do you work so you can live or you live so you can work?
Work to live is an ideal situation where the reason for working is to provide means of livelihood.
There is a purpose of doing something. At the end of the day, we look forward to spending quality time doing what we like to do.
On the other hand live to work is a way many people are forced to do. We wish that the days were longer so we can squeeze more time to finish stuff.
In Hong Kong we have an hour lunch break. Although it is not being enforced strictly. it is sometimes hard to find seats during lunch time.
Worse, there are those who are given 30 minutes break. .
Apparently this is an unhealthy way to live your working life in Hong Kong. So every second counts as shown on brisk walking citizens who read newspapers while walking or in the MTR / buses or ferry.
If you work 10 to 12 hours a day, your ultimate relaxation is sleep. I myself have lots of plans of things to do on weekends but the next time I blink, it's Sunday night and working week is again in my midst.
We need to relax as a way to replenish our energy. Unfortunately, this is treated as waste of time by many people in Hong Kong who can't afford such "luxuries". And who could blame them? Companies shrinking in workforce numbers only mean more workload for fewer people.
In a way it shows Hong Kong people are hardworking, but isn't it also a sign of inefficiency?
Just asking, because in my opinion, I think many European countries practice long lunch breaks, enjoy lengthy vacations and still maintain their status.
I don't know much about how things work there so feel free to enrich and enlighten my mind.
